A festival in the heart of the mediterranean ...

The sea color of books, an original literary festival that brings together a book fair with the best representatives of independent publishing and a rich cultural program made up of heterogeneous events for all ages, related to reading and the written and spoken word. The initiative intends to enhance the importance of contemporary reading and editorial production through a series of initiatives - meetings with authors, presentations, readings, shows, screenings, exhibitions and workshops for children - which will take place from 6 to 8 August 2021. .

The title chosen for the festival The sea color of books, which recalls by assonance the famous book by Leonardo Sciascia "The sea color of wine", is evocative: in fact, "the sea" will be the suggestion that will hold together the heterogeneous cultural proposals, lending itself to a thousand declinations and interpretations, both social and literary. In fact, the sea is overflowing with literature and seems in itself a literary metaphor: mysterious and fascinating place of encounter and confrontation, the scene of migrations and mutinies, a symbol of challenge, adventure, travel, but also loss of self, search for an elsewhere, shipwreck, abandonment, an emblem of boundlessness and at the same time a heritage to be protected and protected, from an environmental point of view, and enhanced, from a tourist and cultural point of view.

Over twenty small and medium-sized independent publishing houses, selected by the organizing body from among the most innovative and culturally qualified on the Sicilian scene, will be positioned in the nerve center of the festival, Villa Cavallotti, where the entire setting up of an independent publishing fair is planned. . The editors present at the festival will present a full calendar of presentations, which will complement the events directly promoted by the artistic direction of Navarra Editore.
